We were bachelors back then, hailing from various cities across Indonesia and brought together on the island of Batam. We always treated our work holidays as special days, moments we could use to unwind and reconnect.
Not every holiday allowed us to be together, as our work schedules varied. Some of us worked 4-3, 4-2, or 5-2 shifts, similar to football strategies, where the numbers represent workdays and days off.
Our fishing spot at the time was the DAM Duriangkang, located in Sei Beduk District, Batam City, in the Riau Islands. The scenery was truly extraordinary, drawing us to cast our rods in many promising areas.
