The Most Serene Rest Stop on the Ambarawa Route (MSRAR)

This is a continuation of my previous story, where I accidentally went all the way to Salatiga, and eventually decided to turn around with the intention of heading here.

The first time I passed through here was when I dared to attend a job interview around March 2020. In a less-than-healthy condition, I decided to ride my old motorbike. The weather at the time was terrible, with light rain that felt ominous.

As the day grew darker, I became truly scared while passing through this area, as it was completely deserted. It seemed I was the only two-wheeled vehicle on this route, with cars and trucks as the only other traffic.

Long story short, four months later, just before the COVID-19 outbreak, I had to return to take care of my old motorbike’s paperwork. Fortunately, I left in the afternoon (after midday prayers), and unexpectedly, I arrived at this route again as the evening approached. To my surprise, I was greeted with an extraordinary view. I thought, this is a rare moment—imagine if it had been during the rice harvest or planting season; the atmosphere would have been completely different.

In conclusion, this route has a full charm: SCARY on dark days and BEAUTIFUL on sunny days. This route is Jl. Jend. M Sarbini, Kupangsari, Kupang, Ambarawa District, Semarang, Central Java.

Safe travels!
