The Charm of Tanah Lot, Bali (CTLB)

According to SANTAIAREA’s friend GETER, after visiting Tanah Lot, the main attraction lies in the view of its iconic temple, which juts out on the beach’s edge. Not everyone can access it—only beach staff or people assigned to perform Tilem Kasa, a special kind of offering made around the Tanah Lot tourist complex, including the Tanah Lot temple itself. This ritual activity caught our attention too, as we noticed the distinctive scent of offerings throughout our journey around Bali. I’m not sure if it was incense or another type of fragrant smoke.

The native people of Bali are predominantly Hindu, and they are very religious, deeply connected with nature. They perform Tilem Kuasa along the way while praying.

The second view that really caught my eye was the presence of foreign tourists who were, well… hard to describe. It’s a blend between exotic and erotic vibes, hehe… Guaranteed, if you’re not single, you’ll be on your best behavior.

Now, let’s discuss something we consider crucial, though fortunately, it’s still reasonable and affordable for us—yes, it’s the entrance fees. Based on the decision by the Tanah Lot Manager No. 3/BP/DTWTL/VII/2016 on entrance fee rates, it was announced that starting from November 1, 2016, the rates are as follows:

Previous Rates:

  • Domestic Children: Rp. 7,500
  • Domestic Adults: Rp. 10,000
  • Foreign Children: Rp. 15,000
  • Foreign Adults: Rp. 30,000

New Rates:

  • Domestic Children: Rp. 15,000
  • Domestic Adults: Rp. 20,000
  • Foreign Children: Rp. 30,000
  • Foreign Adults: Rp. 60,000
