Gamsunoro is the name of a mountain located on Halmahera Island, specifically in Ibu District, West Halmahera Regency, North Maluku Province. This mountain has an elevation of 1,635 meters above sea level and is categorized as a stratovolcano. Locally, it is called Mount Gamsunoro, but administratively, as per Wikipedia, the mountain is referred to as Gamkonora. In addition to being the name of a mountain, Gamsunoro is also used as the name of an oil tanker owned by Pertamina. Here is an excerpt from Pertamina's official website about the Gamsunoro ship:
YOKOSUKA - PT Pertamina (Persero) is set to expand its fleet with the delivery of an Aframax crude oil tanker with a capacity of 105,000 DWT, named Gamsunoro, which takes its name from a mountain in the Maluku Islands.
Mount Gamsunoro erupted in 1673, creating a crater stretching from north to south and triggering a tsunami that devastated nearby villages. The most recent eruption occurred in 2007, forcing approximately 8,000 people to evacuate their homes near the mountain.
