Memories of Batam 2013 RECDATUVRILE (MB2013R)

Recdatuvrile is a virtual family formed by recruits from April 27, 2011, to 2013, known as Recdatuvrile. This bond was created when we, a group of young workers recruited from the western to eastern ends of Java Island, were brought together in one place with a single goal: to work under one of the well-known semiconductor companies on Batam Island.

The process was quick. In the SPC room, our introductions began; some exchanged glances, some initiated small talk, others swapped Facebook contacts, and a few were already dozing off—such moments! Finally, one of us, Mas Dwi Ramdani, took the initiative to lead and establish an exclusive bond for the 2011-2013 batch. From there, ideas began to spark among the group: creating T-shirts, uniforms, jackets, a Facebook forum (Recdatuvrile), and more. I’m writing this reflection so the past isn’t simply forgotten, and to express gratitude for God’s gifts, including friends who became family.

The first year felt challenging, but the second year was a lot more enjoyable. Everything felt easygoing—no matter the salary, we focused on happiness. It was a time of real youth—no night patrols, school assignments, or house chores—just work and fun. Imagine working only four days with three days off, and when a public holiday lined up, it felt like an extended vacation.

Our time for boring tasks was short, but we had plenty of time to unwind, shake off fatigue, and recover from minor illnesses. Life there was a delight for the young: no time restrictions, whether morning, noon, evening, late night, or early morning. Everything was okay, and there was always someone to hang out with. No one held us back. The rule was—no rules… haha!

To us, the security staff were friends, as long as our activities didn’t cause trouble or disturb the surroundings. It was "no problemo" as long as the winner covered the taxes and risks... haha.

Recdatuvrile consisted of about 65 young men and women, but over time, people gradually left due to various individual issues. By the end of our two-year contract, we didn’t leave as the complete group we arrived as. But that’s okay—we’re still here (cue music).

April 25, 2013, marked the final moments of our time together, and we prepared everything for a farewell celebration. Each of us was given different responsibilities as part of our teamwork. I was assigned to create a BACKDROP design for the stage and entertainment event, and here’s how the impromptu result turned out:

No plan, no skill—from us, for us, "Recdatuvrile"! Glad to have met you all, and best wishes for your future. Thank you.
