Climbing Mount Andong with Campus Veterans (CMACV)

Hello, how’s everyone doing, friends from STMIK El Rahma 2013? Greetings of nostalgia. I really want to relive this hike, a time when the passion of youth was at its peak—reckless, energetic, and full of life. One of our friends even forgot that his body easily gives out, but he stubbornly wanted to join the hike.

Let’s not reveal too much, let’s just call him Eric... Oh my, before we even reached the foot of the mountain, he was already out of breath, and almost passed out, haha.

Okay, because we left with a spirit of togetherness, Rizal Jupiter and I had to carry him alternately. Sometimes, if the hiking trail could accommodate three people, we’d carry Eric on our backs.

If that wasn’t enough, we’d switch off again. Imagine, guys, this went on all the way to the summit! How strong are we, right?

The mountain, shaped like a shield, is slender and stretches out, with an altitude of around 1761.50 meters. It is located on the border of Salatiga, Semarang, and Magelang, right next to Mount Telomoyo. Mount Andong has multiple hiking routes—one on the left leading to the summit, and the one on the right leading to a waterfall. When you see a brown archway with golden motifs, that’s the gateway to the summit of Andong.

One thing to keep in mind is to be cautious, as the trail is very slippery and narrow, and the edge of the route is a steep cliff. Don’t worry about water, though, as there are plenty of springs along the way to the summit, and the water is clean and safe to drink. For those using GPS, here are the coordinates to reach the summit of Andong:

Latitude: 7° 23′ 23.628″ S
Longitude: 110° 22′ 12.186″ E
Altitude: 1761.50 m
Map Datum: WGS-84
