My career journey wasn't as smooth as a Blackpink member's legs. Even though I've finally reached my dream as a coder, my past took a detour through the world of graphic design, where I became BFFs with Corel Draw and Photoshop.
Fast forward 10 years, and now I can’t go back to that tool ecosystem. I’m stuck using open-source tools like Inkscape, like a digital nomad who lost their fancy gear.
Today, I'm going to share my thrilling experience of handling UI design for Android, where I had to create an icon using Inkscape. Spoiler alert: it wasn’t as easy as with Corel Draw. To add rounded corners to shapes, I needed a special tool called “Rounded Corners Version 1.3” by Chris Hawley, because apparently, life can't be too easy.
This extension works like a magic wand on any shape with sharp corners. If your shape has edges that could cut you, this tool's got your back! But here's the catch—if you’ve already made your corners rounded and aren’t quite satisfied, you’ve got to reset it to the OG sharp shape before trying again. So yeah, take notes on your pixel radius like your life depends on it!
